The Swedish company Jetson announced the start of mass production of an eVTOL device called Jetson ONE. It is positioned as a flying machine “for hooligans” and, due to the inherent restrictions, is not intended for any useful activity. But it costs only $92,000, and you can fly it without a pilot’s license, for which the car was created.
The design of the Jetson ONE is extremely simplified, there is not even a dashboard – it is replaced by the pilot’s smartphone. In fact, this is an overgrown quadrocopter capable of lifting one person into the air. The weight is limited to 120 kg, the maximum speed is not higher than 100 km / h, the ceiling height is 500 m. There was nowhere to place safety equipment, so there are none. There is only a lidar, which, at a critically low altitude, automatically slows down the speed of the device.
The flight duration is also small, only 20 minutes on a single battery charge, but the manufacturer promises to improve this figure. Due to weight and size restrictions, the propellers are not protected by anything, but it is stated that if one of them is lost, the Jetson ONE will be able to fly on three for some time to land safely. The company already has pre-orders for the first batch of 118 pieces.
